| Bardi: audiovisual installation |
|
|
"The
Mystic Marriage of Santa Caterina", an early painting
on panel by the young Parmigianino now kept at Bardi in the
church of Santa Maria Addolorata is the historical background
for the audio-visual installation on view in the church of
San Francesco entitled "The young Parmigianino and the
religious culture of the 16th century ". A detailed analysis
of the altar piece- from the painting technique to the style,
from the mannered
to the innovative components, from the iconography to the symbols
used- allows the comparison of the work with other paintings
by Parmigianino and other contemporary artists. A journey through
the universe of all things sacred, seen through the relations
with the Lords: an opportunity to relate how, at times, Sixteenth
century artistic expression of devotion became an instrument
for the affirmation of political power.
