The
famous humanistic library of Pomponio Torelli lives again
in a virtual way in one of the castle wings. What did the library
of a Renaissance-era gentleman such as Pomponio contain? In
addition to Latin and Greek texts, it must certainly have contained
volumes of contemporary court literature such as: Orlando in
Love by Boiardo, Orlando the Furious of Ariosto, political texts
by Macchiavelli, philosophical texts of Marsilio Ficino, linguistic
texts by Bembo; and furthermore, travel diaries, atlases, scientific
manuals on medicine, esoteric and alchemistic treatise, beautifully
finished codes, cavallier poems
