Bianca
Pellegrini and Pier Maria Rossi
The biographical story of Bianca Pellegrini of Como, a Milanese
noblewoman shown on a medal coined by Gian Francesco Enzola
in 1547, and her relationship with Pier Maria Rossi are still,
for the most part, to be investigated. This relationship, parallel
to the official links of Pier Maria with Antonia Torelli, married
in 1428, and of Bianca with Melchiorre d'Arluno, was to play
a fundamental role in the life and the most prestigious artistic
commissions of Pier Maria: in particular Bianca, a guest at
Roccabianca, was dedicated to the decoration of the Griselda
Room. Following her death, which took place at an unspecified
date some years before 1482, Bianca came to the oratory of San
Nicomede in the castle of Torrechiara, the same chapel in which
the remains of Pier Maria Rossi were later laid to rest in 1482.
