|
|
The
Castle of Varano de' Melegari, situated at the mouth of
the Ceno valley, offers the starting point for narrating the
strategies of the noble rule in the Parma area. The emblem of
the territorial power of the Pallavicino family, it bears witness
to the flowering of noble courts in Emilia between Medieval
and Renaissance times, and testifies to the importance of the
site in establishing fortified military protection, which even
today mark out the territorial structure. A large historical
map of the Parma area outlines the borders of the property belonging
to the different local nobles. Several interactive multimedia
stations permit the visitor to deepen understanding of the history
of the courts which dominated the Parma region from the XIII
to the XIV centuries.
